The Ponzi Vineyards new tasting room and office facility sits nestled into a shoulder of the Chehalem Mountains next to the world class winery. “I wanted the strength and monumental elements of the production facility to echo through this new building both as an aesthetic and as a structural device.” The form of the building is meant to respond to the programmatic necessities as well as give a sense of the wine family’s history of progressive thinking. The intent was to strike a balance between timelessness and contemporary thought. The building stretches out into a vineyard allowing the visitor to be embraced by the vines and feel a connection to it’s evolution throughout the year. “This was truly a breakout project as it really allowed the company to showcase not only my personal architectural interests, but also demonstrate the high level of detailed construction we always administer.”
